Now, I am completely ignorant of American work culture but in India if someone played pranks like these, the person would never be taken seriously at work. Of course, if R did the same thing to Singaporeans, she would just be bombarded by innocent questions – “did you call?” “but why?” “why would you say that my wife is having a baby when I don’t have a wife?” “did you mix me up with someone else?” I am telling you, these guys are a bunch of nice people on whom sarcasm and weird sense of humor is totally lost. I read this while sipping coke (the diet variety that claims to make you slim but doesn't!) and almost spilled it on the sullen-faced Chinese chap sitting opposite me. Sipping Dettol however does not seem very odd to me, I too was a curious kid and wanted to taste everything around me.
